How to calculate the fertile period?
Calculating the fertile period is a very simple task. It doesn't demand many calculations. So, you can do it yourself, in a most reliable way than any internet calculator would be able to do.
So, just get paper and pencil and get to work! For the results to be more reliable, please consider several menstrual cycles (for instance, the last four). You'll see that it is a lot simpler than you thought:
- First, you must identify the length of your cycle. First, you must identify the length of your cycle. For instance: if your menstruation comes at the 27th day of your cycle, that means the length of your cycle is 26 days (the first day of your menstruation is the first day of the new cycle). If your menstruation comes on the 35th day, it means that the length of your cycle is 34 days... Got it?
- Secondly, you should subtract 14 of the total length of your cycle to get the most likely ovulation day. For example, if your cycle length is of 29 days, you must do the following calculation: 29-14 = 15. This means that your ovulation will most likely occur on the 15th day of cycle. If your cycle length is of 25 days, it means that you will most likely ovulate on the 11th day of cycle (25-14 = 11). If your cycle length is of 34 days that means the ovulation will most likely be on 20th day of cycle (34-14 = 20).
- Third, you should start having intercourse four days before the most likely day for ovulation and until two days after, on alternate days. For instance, if your most likely day to ovulate is the 12th day of the cycle, you should have intercourse on the 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th day of the cycle. If the most likely day to ovulate is the 19th day, then you should have intercourse on the 15th, 17th, 19th and 21st days of the cycle. This way, you cover a long period, before and after the most likely day for ovulation, if it does not occur exactly on schedule. This period is your fertile period. Having intercourse on this period ensures that there is always sperm waiting for the egg during these days (the spermatozoon, on average, survives 3 days inside a woman's body).
